Transmission
and Distribution Services
As the loads and delivery system stresses increase, the regional
transmission organizations (RTO) and the reliability counsels are
developing major improvements to the transmission systems within
the control areas. These transmission system improvements will
result in overloading the in-house engineering and design teams
of many utilities. Investor owned utilities, electric
cooperatives, and municipal electric systems will be required to
complete major transmission system improvements in order to
accomplish future PJM mandates resulting from current planning.
Downes Associates is prepared to provide transmission engineering
and design services to you when your in-house engineering and
design teams are overloaded.

Our experienced team of engineers and designers will utilize
the industry standard design tool PLS-CADD, along with
TOWER, PLS-POLE, SAGSEC, SAPS, and CAISSON software
furnished by Power Line Systems Inc. as required in order to
meet your project’s design requirements, budgetary
requirements, and time requirements.
Downes Associates' engineers have successfully designed transmission
lines utilizing tubular steel poles, prestressed concrete poles, and wood poles.
We have successfully completed transmission line projects requiring us
to perform the following tasks: planning, routing, environmental studies,
facilitate right-of-way acquisition, design, development of material list
for procurement, development of construction specifications,
and construction management.

Downes Associates is also prepared to provide similar distribution engineering
and design services when your in-house engineering and design teams are
overloaded. Downes Associates has successfully completed distribution line
projects requiring us to perform the following tasks: planning, routing,
facilitate right-of-way acquisition, design, development of material list
for procurement, development of construction specifications, and construction
management. We utilize software furnished by Power Line Systems Inc. as
required to meet your project’s design requirements, budgetary requirements,
and time requirements.

complicated or cannot cost effectively design on your schedule, contact Downes
