SALISBURY -- Downes Associates Inc. has announced
the promotion of Alexander M. Grier to the position of senior
partner and corporate vice president.
Grier's career has spanned almost three decades in
the fields of energy production and utilization. Over this period
of time, he has held positions at the architectural-engineering
firm of Anderson-Nichols and Co. in Boston; the hydro-generation
form of James Leffel and Co. in Springfield, Ohio; the firm of
R.D. Grier & Sons in Salisbury, and since 1988 with Downes
Inc.
In addition to his managerial duties as vice
president of the firm, Grier's responsibilities at Downes
Associates include oversight of the civil engineering and
mechanical engineering sections, as well as management of the
firm's power plant design group. Grier has directed power plant
reviews, designs, and construction activities for municipal
utilities in Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts
and Connecticut.
Grier attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg,
Pa., where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in civil
engineering and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics in June
1976.
Grier is a registered Professional Engineer holding
licenses in the states of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia,
Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and Connecticut.
